Trying to remember the small details from two months back is gonna be challenging...
08/07/11 Sunday
I am thankful to have friends who share the same interests as me.
Our mission today was to eat some bomb food and catch the Art in the Streets exhibit at MOCA. We had to decide on something quick to eat because we knew the line for the exhibit was going to be hella long since it was the second to last day before it ended.
Wurskuche was our choice for lunch. They are known for their unique selection sausages such as Alligator & Pork and Rabbit, Veal & Pork Seasoned with White Wine. I ordered the Rattlesnake & Rabbit with Jalapeño Peppers, Austin Blues, and a side of fries. Each sausage was unique in taste, but I liked the Austin Blues which was hot and spicy, tri-pepper & hardwood smoked pork.

I only had 15minutes to walk through the whole exhibit because I had to drive back to OC for a Boy Scout reunion. That ended up being a dumb decision because no one in my year attended. UGGGGGHHH...

The Grand Opening of Dim Mak Wednesdays!
Back in college, the crew and I would cruise out to Hollywood for Dim Mak Tuesdays, so we had to pay our respects and show our love when they came to OC.
 |
| Apparently OC's number 1 club of 2011 |
 |
| Hrmmmmm... |
 |
| The crew partying in VIP on the left. |
After the club, we hit up Taqueria #2 for the BEST Mexican food, in my opinion, in Orange County! Words cannot describe how delicious this place is. Everything is just cooked to perfection!

I don't remember what i did during the day, but I know that I ended the night at Proof for Franny's early bday.

08/12/11 Friday
Frankie, Joyce, and I all had the day off, so we decided to grab lunch at Mitsuwa with Alex. We all decided to try this place that is apparently a self-serve Japanese Udon noodle shop straight from Japan. The Udon was reasonably priced, but the meal added up when I was enticed with their variety of tempura fried goods. Sanukiseimen Mugimaru is a great alternative for Fukada if you just want your quick fix of Udon.

 |
| I must say that Joyce is more consistent than most guys! |
 |
| Franko the lefty |
 |
I swear, he has probably spent over a hundred dollars on brick stacking games.
The end result is always the same... LOSE! |
We all went home to freshen up for the night's activity, Popin Bottles at Busby!
 |
| It just so happened. |

Nothing like Cali Shabu Shabu to balance out the night of heavy drinking. Many may complain about the portions and simplicity of Cali Shabs compared to others, but I think everything is just right. Plus, the service is A+++++++.

In my group of friends, we always go to K-bars and hardly ever set foot in V-Bars. It's pretty funny because a large portion of our group is Vietnamese. K-bars may have their soju, but V-bars have the best food!
Alex, Carol, Franko, Lee, Pham, and I grabbed dinner at one of the most ethnic V-bars, Artisan Cafe!

For dessert, we met up Boog, Mattie, and Philip at Volcano Tea House. I'm sad to say that Volcano is the new hip spot for the younger generation. In my day, Tastea was the business! Now, I go to Volcano for the milk tea and Tastea for the fruit induced teas.
We all couldn't decide on what to do that night, so we all wrote idea on a piece of paper and threw it into my hat. We then randomly pulled out two ideas. Boy did everyone dodge a bullet or two...

08/15/11 Monday
Hondaya is probably the most popular Japanese Restaurant/Bar in Orange County. There is always a long wait no matter what time you come, but it is well worth it... Unfortunately, I didn't take a pic of everything I ate because I was busy drinking and comforting a hoimie who just got out of a 7 year relationship.

There has been a lot of hype around Chef Hung opening up in Diamond Jamboree since Chef Hung has won awards for their Beef Noodle soup. I just so happened to try the hype on their Grand Opening!
Wow, was I disappointed! Not only was the food mediocre. It was super expensive! $10 for Spicy Beef noodle soup that wasn't even spicy?!?!?! C'mon! I would not recommend this place to ANYONE!
 |
| This pic was the best part of the meal. |
 |
| Jelly Fish (0/10)... It was super Crunchy and tasted like raw cartilage! |
 |
Award winning beef shank, tendon, and tripe with fat noodle in fire chili soup(6/10). I'd rather go to Guppy... A&J FTW! |

Biggee, Franko, and I swam laps at the pool. To make our count, we decided to eat something help. Franko swears by this place, but I beg to differ. I'll give it to him that it's healthy, but I prefer my chicken moist with more flavor.
Chicken Maison or
Zankou Chicken will always be my favs!

I had a business meeting up in Hollywood at some spot which I forgot the name of with a Music/TV show producer who wanted to collaborate with me on some huge projects.. Most of the time, I meet with people who can talk the talk but can't walk the walk... I have a feeling that this producer will pull through for me.
 |
| Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict (9/10) |
The other day, I signed up for another mud run. This time, I was going to run it with a team---> Team You Ain't Down!... Franko joined us for our first team training in the Tustin canyons...
 |
| I was totally out of shape |
To celebrate our first training session, we ate at Tabento. It was my first time there, and I must say that it is in my list of top sushi places in Orange County.
 |

08/19/11 - 08/21/11 Epic House Boat Trip!
We got a huge group together to drive out to Lake Mohave to celebrate Pham and Tammy's bdays. The whole trip was super fun, but it could have been better if one person didn't come and if Dan didn't scare us with a near death experience.

| Tommy locked his keys in his car which prevented the truck with the supplies from leaving on time. |

08/22/11 Monday
I had another business meeting at Jin Yuan in the City of Industry to discuss the upcoming MC Hot Dog show.
My business partner says that Jin Yuan has serves the best pork chop... It was good, but I'll pick Tea Station's pork chop any day.

08/25/11 Wednesday
The night before, I was on facebook, and I read of those advertisements that appear on the right side of your profile page. The advertisement was actually a survey about restaurants that I preferred. Since I'm such a foodie, I decided to take the survey for shits and giggles. After 30seconds, I was asked to partake in a Taco Bell taste test that paid $25. I would be a dummy not to take part since the head quarters is in Irvine, and I love Taco Bell!
The room that I completed the taste test looked exactly how they did on TV! What I was asked to rate were hard tacos. I guess they had to change the recipe due to the accusations of Taco Bell not using real meat.
 |
| The room... I totally forgot to take a picture of the setup at my desk. |
At night, some of us hit up Dim Mak Wednesday at Yost Theater.
 |
| The ladies... |
 |
| The crowd and atmosphere is totally different from Dim Mak Tuesday |
We got out late night munchies on at BCD

I love that some of my friends are still kids at Heart. Biggee, Euni, Jef, and I took over Nickle Nickle!
 |
| They love their ticket games! |
 |
| Jackpot! |
 |
| This is how you teach your kids how to play slots! |
I had to end the fun early because I had to get ready for
David Lee's bday at the Avalon Hotel in LA. With his industry connections, he didn't pay a single penny for his party---> Open Vodka bar, free champagne, and free food!

08/27/11 Saturday
My brother, Sy, is a picky eater. Whenever we decide on where to eat, he always lists 3 different places: Favori, Hot Pot City, or Quan Hy.
Hot Pot City was the winner that round. The neat thing about this place is that you pick and choose what you want to cook from three large refrigerators that provide you with a wide selection of goodies. My brother and I usually start off with grilling the meet and finish off with our custom made soup. I liked this place a lot until my bro wanted to go every week -__ -
 |
| (8/10) |
After lunch, we chilled and caught up with our Father... At night, we caught the UFC fight at Hooters.

The LAST Do Over of the Summer!
Unfortunately, all of the tables were booked 2 weeks in advance, so we had to stand in line for quite a while. When we finally got in, we pounded drinks and got the party started! We partied so hard that we left when the sun was still out. SMH!

My number two spot for Taiwanese food in Irvine is Liang's Kitchen. Like A&J, I recommend coming in a group of 4 or more so that you can eat family style.

08/30/11 Tuesday
I had no meetings scheduled for today, so I chilled at home like a bum. Euni came over, rummaged through my room, and came across discount coupons to Knotts Berry Farm that expired today. That was a good enough sign for us to book it to Knotts!... We must still be in a recession, because the longest we waited for any ride was 5 mins!
 |
The best Funnel Cake EVAR! (10/10)...
Note: dipping is the best form of attack because if the sauce is poured on, the cake will be soggy! |
 |
| So much fun! |
 |
| To add to her San Rio collection |
We basically rode on all of the fun rides once, twice, or three times in 2.5 hours! The park closed at 6, so it was perfect timing for us to head back to Irvine for Jason Yang's bday dinner at Seoul Garden.
The meat quality is OK. However, the concept of Seoul Garden is pretty chill because everything is self served like Home Town Buffet!
13828 Red Hill Ave
Tustin, CA 92780
We left the dinner a little early to meet up everyone else for Dim Mak Wednesday. Plus, I had to show my support for, The Groove Monsters, the DJ duo that I manage... Somehow, we seem to party like it's the weekend on Hump Day. This has been the third straight week that we've been here since they opened..

I totally forgot what we did during the day, but we all wound up at Balcony for Lee's pre bday celebration!

09/03/11 Saturday-09/04/11 Sunday
I am utterly disappointed to have been affiliated with such an unorganized event known as Playground Festival. They wasted my time by hiring me to organize and run the VIP section and decided to CAN it three day prior to the event! I literally got the best rates(50% OFF) ON furniture and decorations for the VIP section because of my connections through working/organizing the VIP sections for Insomniac. They also vetoed all of my artists that I had secured such as Cosmic Gate, Pendulum, and Porter Robinson. You can read all about the FAILURE on the
OC Weekly blog...
Oh well, I still got paid in the end.
